Akbar Khan announces his forthcoming film Taxi Driver

After dealing with the historical film Taj Mahal, Akbar Khan ventures into the contemporary arena this time. He has started work on his next film which he wants to title Taxi Driver. But since the rights of the title are with Dev Anand who starred in a classic film by the same name, he intends to request the veteran actor for the copy rights of the title.

Ekta Kapoor’s new multi-starrer ‘?’

Popularly known as the Queen of the Indian television industry, Ekta Kapoor is going to announce her new film soon. Ekta has kept the name of the film and starcast under wraps. However, she informs that it is going to be a multi-starrer film.
The film will be directed by Mahesh Pande and also produced by him along with Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. It will be made under the banner of Balaji Telefilms and Shri Siddhivinayak Media Entertainment. For more details keep watching this space.

Victoria 203 cast finalized

Sometime back, we broke the of actor Kamal Sadanah planning to remake VICTORIA 203, the smash hit produced-directed by his father in 1972. Now here?s the final cast of the film?
Anupam Kher and Om Puri have been finalized to enact the roles of Ashok Kumar and Pran, while Jimmy Shergill and Amrita Arora will step in Navin Nischol and Saira Banu?s shoes. Sanjay Leela Bhansali gets bail from court

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bansali was granted bail by a session court on Tuesday in the case of the fire that broke out on the sets of Black which destroyed property worth Crores. The case was registered by antique dealer Farida Hoosenally who accused Bhansali of using domestic LPG cylinders on the sets of the film, thus, breaching the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act and LPG Supply and Distribution Order 2000.Hoosenally, in her police complaint stated that on April 18, 2003, when the set of the film Black had caught fire, the two LPG cylinders added to the damage of the artifacts that she had rented for the shoot, resulting in the lose of Rs. 3 crore worth property. Bhansali then filed a bail application after receiving summons from the Police.Black starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerjee in lead roles released in 2005. Bhansali is currently working on Saawariya which will launch two star kids Ranbir Kapoor (Son of Rishi Kapoor) and Sonam Kapoor (Daughter of Anil Kapoor).

Salaam Bombay? screened for street kids

M.A.M. Movies, an independent youth organization founded to produce and promote inspiring independent cinema, launched a film club on 2nd October to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti with the children living on the streets. The celebrations were enhanced by the screening of SALAAM BOMBAY, a film by Mira Nair, along with the presence of ace actor Raghubir Yadav, one of the main characters of the film.

Gafla selected for London Film Festival

Producer-director Sameer Hanchate?s debut film GAFLA, inspired by the much-publicized scam in the Indian stock market, has been selected for The Times BFI 50th London Film Festival 2006, to be held in London from 18th October to 2nd November. The film is being released in this week [6th October].
Hanchate had been an assistant to Subhash Ghai before he made GAFLA.

Deepa Mehta pats Chitra Palekar

Rakhi Sawant in yet another controversy

Item girl Rakhi Sawant loves to be in controversies. Recently she was seen in a mini skirt and a short top at a garba event organized by Pancham Group at Helipad Ground in Bardoli. After all the previous protests, Rakhi Sawant had agreed to perform in a traditional chaniya-choli in Bardoli.
But the moment she stepped on the stage, the audience yelled, 'Mika, Mika.' She took the microphone and said, "Mika ko maro goli, garba enjoy karo. Garba mein mazaa nahin aata toh mujhe dekh kar enjoy karo."
Following the protests police had to wrap up the program before its scheduled time. Speaking to the press Rakhi explain that she likes Gujaratis and their tradition. There were many people of which some loved her dance and some did not.
Inspector Chawda, who wrapped the event, explained that they had warned the organizer, Prashant Parmar, to be careful of her dress, otherwise they will have to face the consequences.
However Parmar explained that there wasn't any obscenity in her dance. She performed on regional and Western numbers.

Aamir Khan to host television show

Aamir Khan is all set to begin a new innings. He will be hosting a show by the name of Rang De Basanti Salaam produced by television actor Urvashi Dholakia.
Inspired by Aamir’s own film Rang De Basanti, the show will honour individuals whose actions have made an impact in the society. The winners were chosen via SMS and mail by the common public.
The show will make its debut on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.
Aamir Khan is keeping himself quite busy these days. Apart from a couple of home-productions that he is handling he is on a high since Rang De Basanti has been India’s official entry to the Oscars.
